VIDEO REFLECTIONS
NCSU's Summer Intensive began my school leadership journey. I spent the month of July diving into Stephen Covey and Dale Carnegie's helpful habits, acquiring a strong sense of my emotional intelligence, and practicing holding crucial conversations. I also had the opportunity to reflect on my leadership skills using multiple personality tests and leadership blueprints to guide my analysis. The summer was just a sample of what was to come, but provided me the opportunity gain awareness of who I was as a person.

Fall 2019 school leadership courses allowed me multiple opportunities to begin to think like an educational leader. I had to reflect on my response to inequitable practices and how I would look for ways to empower teachers in and outside their classrooms. Lastly, I had the opportunity to observe a middle school math professional learning team, and reflect on the actions I would take to help them improve in their practices team to positively impact student learning.

At the beginning of the Fall 2020 semester, I entered an internship at Fuller GT/AIG Magnet Elementary School. The new school year brought its own set of challenges as all students engaged in a virtual learning environment, and staff focused on determining the best actions to meet student individual needs. This reflection focuses on working toward proficiency on my Personal Leadership Plan based on the collaborative work implemented at Fuller.

For my final video reflection, I spoke to finding my footing as I served as the principal resident at Fuller, building trust with the school community stakeholders, and taking on more responsibility as a grew into my school role. The semester also allowed me to continue to focus on my Problem of Practice by tracking commonly held beliefs the Equity/Diversity Team members had about teaching historically marginalized students. Lastly, the semester provided numerous opportunities for me to continue to reflect on who am I as a leader.
